Will ArcelorMittal buy Evraz's Czech subsidiary?

Business - Evraz Vitkovice Steel (EVS), an Ostrava-based Czech subsidiary of Russia's Evraz metallurgical group, is for sale. "Evraz already received several offers to buy EVS last year. Until the decision on the sale is announced, these bidders wish to remain anonymous from the public," said EVS spokesman Jaromir Krisica. "So far no decision has been made, the process of evaluation will be completed soon," he added... (read more here).

 

Russia's VEB bank tries to force KKCG out of Pilsen Steel

Business - In the fall of 2012, Czech billionaire Karel Komarek (KKCG) provided operating capital for Pilsen Steel, an insolvent Plzen-based steel company owned by Russian entrepreneur Igor Shamis.

However, a new player has joined the game - Russia's VEB (Vnesheconombank) bank. VEB wants to replace Komarek as a key financial partner to Pilsen Steel, oversee the insolvent steel company's reorganization and assume its debt... (read more here).

 

Kellner's anti-cancer drug goes to clinical trial in USA, China

Revealed - The little-known biomedicine project of the Czech Republic's richest person, Petr Kellner, is advancing well. Kellner's Sotio company has entered the next stage of the development of a new drug to treat prostate cancer. The ambitious project is aimed at introducing a brand new drug to the market.

At the end of the summer, Sotio will start the third, international phase of the clinical trial process of its DCVAC/PCa vaccine... (read more here).
