PM Necas unwilling to make concessions on Gripen lease

Behind the scenes - Prime Minister Petr Necas (ODS) is unwilling to any make concessions to the Swedish side on a continuation of the lease of Gripen fighter jets to the Czech military.
People around Necas believe that the Czech Republic has a clear advantage in the talks: Sweden allegedly needs to promote its fighter jets among NATO member states to boost future sales. And Czech military pilots have already served well in this regard... (read more here).

 

Why is Czech Rep Europe's biggest exporter of raw wood (and why it's bad news)

Business - Since 2009, the profits of the state Lesy CR forestry company increased from hundreds of millions of korunas to multiple billions of korunas. Over the same period, the two biggest wood processing companies in the Czech Republic went bankrupt - CEE Wood in 2011 and Less & Forest in 2012. RWE cuts gas prices for households, other distributors to follow

Business - RWE Group, a German energy company, has decided to make a radical step in its effort to regain the clients who have recently switched to different gas providers in the Czech Republic. In May 2013, RWE will cut the price it charges for natural gas, or specifically the unregulated component of the price, by 10 percent.

RWE remains the Czech Republic's largest distributor of natural gas to households... (read more here).
