Prague, Bucharest - The major Czech energy company CEZ will participate on construction of two blocks of nuclear power plant Cernavoda in Romania.
Romania's state energy company Nuclearelectrica stated this in its press release.
In addition to CEZ, five other companies will participate in the project - ArcelorMittal, Ecectrabel, Enel, Iberdola and RWE Power. The companies have been already sent a proposal of the contract.
The whole investment is worth of 2.3 billion euro. CEZ will have 15 per cent share.
The project is still waiting to be approved by all the six companies and Romanian government as well. A joint enterprise is expected to be established in May.
The reactors will launch their operation by 2015 and each will produce 720 megawatts, explained CEZ. Almost one fifth of electric energy produced in Romania come from the two existing blocs.
CEZ recently failed in its attempt to buy a minority share in Bulgarian power plant Belene.
