London - Prague's Wenceslas Square has been identified among the sleaziest cities in Europe by British daily The Times.

Despite the revamp the square has lately undergone, the place is still a haunt of nocturnal prostitutes and drug dealers, writes David Wadmore of The Times .

Last year saw an increased presence of police and reduction of hot dog stalls but it is far from being the café zone the city officials and citizens would like to see in the vicinity of this commercial hub.

"Look up and there is some brilliant architecture on display, but don't keep your eye off your bag for too long as pickpockets flourish in the crowds of tour Gross," says Wadmore.

He also highlights the peculiar "mixture of strip clubs and excellent hotels" just off the square.

„It's best to go there by day, and look forward to the clean up to be completed in 2011 when the café culture returns," Wadmore adds.

Among other cities that were defined by The Times daily as the cities of shame are Amsterdam, Paris and Hamburg. They all have red light disctricts, facing thriving petty crime and fraud.
