Prague - Czech Railways has introduced a number of summer discounts, available from 21 June until 22 September. Last year's rates will apply to selected domestic fares.

The CZK 150 family pass SONE+, allowing whole-day travel on local and limited-stop trains for up to two adults and three children, will be available throughout the week instead of only at weekends.

The CZK 150 RegioNet pass, allowing whole-day travel on local and limited-stop trains for one person in a given region, will cost CZK 99 instead.

"The point of this offer is to encourage tourism and domestic rail travel," says the Czech website.

Same discounts apply at OKD Doprava, which operates passenger trains between Milotice nad Opavou and Vrbno pod Pradědem in northern Moravia.

Last week new train timetables took effect throughout the country. Czech Railways boosted service on the busiest routes and reduced service on routes with low train occupancy, as well as changing departure and arrival times for some services.
