Mysterious firm Gascontrol close to buying Detmarovice plant

Business - Gascontrol, a little-known Havirovice-based energy company, has a good chance of becoming the new owner of the black coal burning Detmarovice power station.

The selection process is currently in its second round, and Gascontrol is competing with two other bidders: Energy and Industry Holding (EPH) controlled by J&T Group and the BXR investment group owned by billionaire Zdenek Bakala... (read more here).

 

Gas and beer: Biggest Czech deals of 2012

Revealed - The most expensive transaction made by a Czech company in 2012 was the EPH holding's acquisition of Slovak gas company SPP. SPP owns the Slovakian part of a gas pipeline that supplies Russian gas to Europe.

EPH bought a 49 percent stake in SPP from Germany's E.ON and France's GdF Suez for EUR 2.5 billion.

EPH is a joint project owned by PPF, J&T and Daniel Kretinsky, who was behind the acquisition of SPP... (read more here).
