Praha - Czech Finance Minister Miroslav Kalousek has been named the best finance minister of 2008 in post-communist Europe in an annual survey organised by the international magazine Emerging Markets, the Z1 television channel reported yesterday.
Kalousek will receive the award this Friday in Washington during a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors from World Bank and International Monetary Fund member states.
The world's leading analysts, bankers, representatives of financial institutions and other experts have voted to award Kalousek for pushing growth-oriented tax reforms and improvements in Czech public finances.
Emerging Markets monitors the developments of public finances and economic reforms in post-communist Europe and developing countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
