Czech police investigate "solar rush" from 2010

Revealed - Czech police have received a number of motions to investigate public agencies and private companies over state subsidies for the solar energy industry.

The investigators are focusing above all on the crucial period at the end of 2010, when the Czech "solar rush" was at its highest. At that time, the construction of thousands of solar plants was being hastily completed... (read more here).

 

PM sees Gripen lease as costly, seeks other solutions

Behind the scenes - Recently, Prime Minister Petr Necas said that the Czech government is not excited about the idea of continuing the costly lease of Gripen fighters from Sweden, and is seeking a different solution.

The current 10-year lease will end in 2015. The Czech PM is currently negotiating the continuation of the contract with his Swedish counterpart... (read more here).

 

All the president's donors: Who financed Zeman campaign?

Revealed - Milos Zeman's presidential campaign received in total CZK 17.22 million (approximately 670,000 euros) in contributions from citizens and organizations this year.

After looking into Zeman's open campaign account, Czech Insider has learned that more than half of these contributions - around CZK 9 million - came from two informal and interconnected groups of people and also from Zeman's political party... (read more here).
