Prague - The month of November is going to be "white". This week should see some snowfall and temperatures around the freezing point and it will remain so for the rest of the month, although possibly milder and warmer by a few degrees at times.

Up until Thursday we can expect dull and overcast weather with the maximum temperature of 4°C. Rainfall and snowfall should be on the decrease but the mountains will still get a few centimeters of new snow.

Moreover, the snow in the mountains should not melt, since the temperatures are projected to hover below 0°C.

Heading for the higher ground

All of this means that the skiing season is pretty much on. There has been some skiing activity already over the past weekend and more ski-lift operators are to be in business by the end of the week.

With the exception of southern Moravia, the borders of the Czech Republic are formed completely by mountain ranges, which come alive with winter sports every time the snow season comes.

And the weather forecast is clear: the snow is coming and it´s here to stay. Over the next few days we should see more and more of the white stuff, although in the areas below 300 meters above the sea level it may be mixed with rain.

While this means less than exciting time in the cities, which are getting their usual share of nasty weather and increasingly depressing lack of daylight this time of year, the fun is to be had in the mountains, be it the day-time fun in the snow or the night-time boozing, dancing etc.

Weather forecast

Weather forecast says that Wednesday will see gloomy and overcast weather with some rainfall but mostly snowfall.

The night time temperatures will be down from 0°C to -4°C. The day temperatures will climb up to somewhere between 0°C and 4°C. The wind will be blowing from a northwesterly and north direction up to 7 m/s.

On Thursday it should be overcast with occasional snowfalls. The night time temperatures will be peaking at 1°C. In some areas during the night the temperature should continue to fall to -8°C.

The weekend, when most of the people take the mountains by storm with their skis and snowboards, will see a similar weather.

The long-term forecast predicts low overcast at first for the third week of November, towards the end of the month there will be more cloudiness bringing more rain for the cities and snow for the mountains.

By the end of the month the morning temperatures will stabilize at around -3 to 2°C. With less cloudiness, the temperatures will fall to -6°C. The day time temperatures will be -2 to 4°C.
