Social Democracy studies possibility of government with Communists

Revealed - Would Czech voters accept a government of the Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD) and the Communists?

The CSSD, the Czech Republic's largest opposition party, commissioned polling agency STEM to answer this question. The opinion poll, conducted on 1112 respondents in June, showed that the mentioned possibility is increasingly acceptable for Czech society... (read more here)

Czech government debt raises faster than budget revenues

In Figures - For the last five years, Czech government debt has grown at a much faster pace than budget revenues.

The fist seven months of this year did not deviate from this long-term trend. According to Finance Ministry data, the budget revenues increased by 1 percent in the said period, while the debt grew 15 percent.

Since 2008, government debt has grown on average 10 percent faster than budget revenues... (read more here)

Social Democrats donate CZK 1.9 million to Dienstbier's campaign

Revealed - The Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD) allocated CZK 1.9 million (EUR 76,000) from its budget to the presidential election campaign of its member, Jiri Dienstbier.

The sum was deposited into a special bank account Dienstbier officially announced last week. This coincided with the official launch of Dienstbier's campaign... (read more here)
