It is to be his first concert outside of Prague

Prague - Bob Dylan is going to perform on 9 June 2008 in Ostrava. The famous singer visited Prague a few times before but he has never performed outside of Prague.

The tickets are going to be for sale as of 3 April in the Ticketpro network," adds Ticketpro´s Jiří Sedlák. Sedlák also believes the concert is "100 per cent sure".

Originally, the folk music history making singer was supposed to perform in Brno. The organizers did not confirm the concert but had hired Brno´s Rondo Hall, which advertised the concert at its web site.

Modern Times

Bob Dylan released his latest CD called Modern Times in 2006, which became immediately one of the most sold CDs. During the first week 192,000 copies were sold.

It is expected Dylan will play some of the Modern Times songs at Ostrava´s concert.

But it is important to note he enjoys remaking his songs when performing live and some of them can be then hardly recognized.

Concert instead of film

Dylan is to visit Ostrava as part of his tour around Europe.

The concert may serve as a "substitute" for the film I'm Not There, which won the Golden Globe Award and picked up a few nominations for the Oscar and Independent Spirit Awards.

The film charts the singer´s life with a series of actors, including Cate Blanchett.

Nonetheless, the film will not be screened in Czech cinemas, thought it will likely be shown at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary.

Prague will have a chance to see another legendary singer towards the end of the summer. Leonard Cohen will "hit the road" again after 15 years of no performing and will perform in Lumbe´s Garden at Prague Castle on August 10.
