Praha - A 42 year old businesswoman from Prague tried to bribe employees of the Financial Office in Hradec Králové.

Her aim was to get back 10 million CZK from the Financial Office. Now she is accused of charges of bribery facing up to 5 years in prison.

"The businesswoman offered a bribe twice to Hradec Králové´s Financial Office," informed Roman Skřepek, top commissionar of the Corruption and Financial Criminal Investigation Department.

"It [the bribe] was supposed to be a bonus for the employees whom she asked to approve enormous VAT deductions. Thus she tried to get back 10 million CZK," explained Skřepek.

Caught in the act

The case was revealed in mid-April courtesy of the Financial Office management, as they informed the police.

The businesswoman was eventually caught, as she was trying to hand over the bribe to the Office employees.

The woman has a criminal record in past. "She was tried for tax evasion and neglecting to pay compulsary fees in past," informed Roman Škřepek.
