Tykac divides his Czech Coal mining company

Revealed - Pavel Tykac has decided to divide his Most-based mining empire, Czech Coal.

Tykac will reportedly quit the board of directors of the Litvinovska Uhelna mining company, a Czech Coal subsidiary that bids to buy the Chvaletice coal power plant from Czech semi-state energy company CEZ. Tykac's long-time associates, Jan Dienstl and Tomas Fohler, will take full control of the company... (read more here).

 

PM Necas appoints Vlastimil Picek as new defense minister

Politics - In December 2012, Prime Minister Petr Necas (ODS) sacked Karolina Peake, chairwoman of the junior government LIDEM party, from the position of defense minister. Last week, he appointed Vlastimil Picek as new minister.

What was it all about? It appears that the prime minister dismissed Peake for two reasons. The first one was his fear that LIDEM would make the Czech military a cash cow for several groups... (read more here).

 

Police investigate delayed construction of Ledvice plant

Revealed - The Czech anti-corruption police squad is investigating the circumstances of the construction of a new reactor at the Ledvice plant. The completion of the CZK 35 billion (1.4 billion euros) work is already delayed by two years, and its owner, Czech semi-state energy company CEZ, has not imposed any sanction on the builder.

Anti-corruption police spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej confirmed that the case is being investigated... (read more here).
