Bruntál - Police in north Moravia arrested 12 people that are believed to be behind the Vítkov arson attack, which severely injured a Roma family in April this year.

The twelve men were arrested in the district of Bruntál and are far right extremists, according to the police.

At the moment none of the detained has yet been charged with the attack but  the details of the arrest are to be revealed at a press conference on Friday.

"I can confirm the arrest is linked to the Vítkov arson attack. But more details will be provided tomorrow at a press conference," Zlatuše Andělová, head of the regional attorney's office, told CTK press agency.

On April 18 a group of unknown arsonists attacked a house in which nine people were sleeping. Three of the family members were severely injured.

The most badly affected was a two-year old baby called Natálka who has suffered from burn injuries covering 80 percent of her body. Natálka has been kept in an induced sleep until this week. The state of her health has slightly improved but still remains serious.

The racial motive has not been proven yet but there are witnesses who heard "Gypsies, your house will burn down!" that night.
