Paris - Rapid, the newest model of Czech car-maker Skoda, will be available in the Czech Republic for CZK 289,900 (EUR 11,600).
The Czech division of Volkswagen group announced the price during the first day of the Paris motor show.
Skoda expects Rapid to replace Fabia as the carmaker's second bestselling model, and to become a global Skoda model.

Skoda's number one is still Octavia, whose third generation is expected to be introduced in spring 2013.
The Mlada Boleslav-based firm will start to sale Rapid on October 20. In fall 2012, the model will be introduced into European markets. It will become available in China and Russia during spring 2013.
Rapid has a 1.2 liter, three cylinder engine with an output of 55 kW, and a 550-liter trunk.
What to expect from Skoda Auto in 2012?
A different version of Rapid with a four cylinder engine will cost CZK 10,000 more (EUR 400) more.
Skoda expects Rapid to became a model of choice for families, while Octavia will appeal more to corporate clients.
