Private investigator explains wave of alcohol deaths
Interview - Over the past two weeks, 21 people have died after drinking bootleg alcohol laced with highly-toxic methanol.
Czech Insider spoke to a private investigator who had been commissioned in 2010 by legal alcohol producers to map the black market with counterfeit liquor.
"It had to take place sooner or later. State authorities obviously do not have this sector under control," the detective said... (read more here).

Klaus to visit Israel three months before his term ends
Behind the scenes - One of the last state visits of Czech President Vaclav Klaus will be to Israel.
Czech Insider has learned that President Klaus will visit the Jewish state in November, three months before his term expires.
The information was confirmed by two sources from the Czech diplomatic service. The President's Office has neither confirmed nor denied it... (read more here).

Czech gas firm Vemex affected by Putin's decree
Business - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that tightens the autonomy of Russia's strategic domestic companies operating abroad.
The decree obliges such companies to seek an official approval from Russian authorities before disclosing information to third parties, changing contracts and prices, or selling property.
Putin's latest move is an answer to the European Commission's investigation into Russian gas firm Gazprom... (read more here).
