Liberec - Lukáš Bauer of the Czech Republic finished the second in the men's 15-km classical race at the Nordic Ski world championship on Friday in Liberec, some 100 km north of Prague.
Bauer told Czech public service TV that the silver medal is great. "I am dead tired but happy," said Bauer. "It is a tough race. Not only for the athletes but also for the servicemen," he added.

Women (ski) jump too
The Liberec nordic ski world championship is the first to ever see women ski jumping pioneers flying down the long ramp.
The Czech Republic is the first country in the world to stage the women's ski jumping category.
Lindsey Van of the United States became Friday the first woman ever to win the women's ski jumping world championship after beating Ulrike Graessler of Germany in her second jump.
"It feels pretty good" to be the first world champion, Van told AP Agency. "But I have to wait for a few days to see what happens. I need to think about it, for sure. But I'm happy right now."
