Ex-Defense Minister Tvrdik mugged during visit to China

Behind the scenes - Former Defense Minister Jaroslav Tvrdik and Jan Ruzicka, a key health ministry official, were mugged during their visit to China.

Both men were members of a Czech business delegation: Tvrdik for the Czech China Chamber of Collaboration and Ruzicka for the Health Ministry.

"I lost about 40 euro, apart from me and Mr Tvrdik, nobody else was robbed," said Ruzicka... (read more here).

Ivo Rittig moves his business to Monaco

Revealed - For a long time, he was a notorious "godfather" -- a figure enjoying significant yet unofficial influence on Czech politics and business -- associated above all with the ministers of the ruling Civic Democratic Party (ODS).

Areva's appeal may put Temelin tender on hold

Behind the scenes - French company Areva, a rejected bidder for the tender to expand the Temelin nuclear plant, will appeal to the Office for the Protection of Competition, dubbed the anti-monopoly office.

The office has not received the appeal yet, but its spokesman Martin Svanda already admits that the office "has probably never dealt with such a complicated case..." (read more here).
