Beijing - Kateřina Emmons representing the Czech Republic in the Olympic Games in Beijing took the silver medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 position shooting event.
This is her second Olympic medal from Beijing, as she claimed the opening gold in the women's 10m air rifle event, setting an Olympic record of 503.5 points.
Kateřina, married to the US shooter Mathew Emmons, was taken by surprise, as the small bore rifle shooting is an additional discipline to her. "I have never expected to win," Emmons commented her silver medal, adding she is extremely tired.
The event was won by China´s Du Li who set a record 690.3 points. ¨

Three Czech medals so far
Her medal is the third Czech Olympic medal of the Beijing Games.
Besides the gold and silver medals won by Emmons, David Kostelecký won men´s trap gold.
With her bronze medal from Athens in 2004, Emmons now has a complete Olympic medal set.
The other Czech athlete that participated in the event, Adéla Sýkorová, didn't make it to the finals and finished the 19th.
