Spain sells three Czech-made L-159 jets to US entity

Behind the scenes - Spain has sold three of the five L-159 Alca fighter jets it received from the Czech Republic in 2010.

A well-informed source said that the Czech-made jets might have been bought by a big American oil company to monitor oil fields.

Aviation industry experts also say that the buyer might actually be the US Air Force, which routinely uses British, Israeli or Italian fighter jets as "enemy planes" during training exercises... (read more here). 

 

CSSD's pro-presidential faction getting stronger

Behind the scenes - CSSD deputy chairman Michal Hasek, who is considered the leader of the pro-Zeman faction, has openly said that if certain conditions are met, the party should vote for the Rusnok government in the confidence vote scheduled for the beginning of August.

Why EU funds did not prevent racial conflicts in Czech city

Behind the scenes - Ceske Budejovice is an example of a "divided city", with the more-well off families living in the historic center or the southern part of the city, while the poor live in the deteriorated residential zones in the north, amid youth unemployed, criminality and ethnic conflicts.

This all is happening in spite of a subsidy of CZK 5 billion (EUR 190 million) that was awarded to the city to revitalize its deteriorated neighborhoods... (read more here).
