Czech Rep to be 5th biggest EU aid recipient in 2014-20

Revealed - According to the final version of the European Union budget for the period from 2014 to 2020, the Czech Republic will receive EUR 23.1 billion in EU funding - the fifth highest subsidy of all member states. Only Poland, Italy, Spain and Rumania will receive more.

Czech Insider has learned this from an unofficial draft budget document prepared by the European Commission (EC)... (read more here).

 

Industry Minister Kuba: Temelin will not be completed before 2030

Revealed - Industry Minister Martin Kuba has openly admitted that the planned construction of the third and fourth reactors for the CEZ-operated Temelin nuclear plant will not be completed by 2025, as originally planned. The new Temelin reactors and the electricity they produce will not be necessary before 2030, said Kuba.

Westinghouse and Rosatom/Mir.1200, the two bidders for the deal, have refused to comment on Kuba's statement... (read more here).

 

Expert: CEZ still regarded as "spoils" of Czech energy sector

Opinion - With the rapid changes in the European energy market it is becoming increasingly clear that the Czech energy sector is in a deep trouble.

Some recent deals made by CEZ, the key player in the Czech energy sector, were extremely suspicious and unprofitable, but the state - the majority shareholder - has failed to act.
