Remek's chances for Moscow ambassador post increase

Revealed - Outgoing President Vaclav Klaus will let his successor in office, Milos Zeman, decide on a new ambassador to Russia, Czech Insider has learned from a source close to the president-elect.

Klaus will not sign the list of new ambassadors, which was approved by the government and sent to the outgoing president by Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg in February... (read more here).

 

New front opens in battle for Temelin

Revealed - A new front opened in the battle between Russia's state nuclear agency Rosatom and American-Japanese company Westinghouse for a multibillion euro deal to expand the Temelin nuclear plant.

On January 20, the Aha! tabloid newspaper published an advertisement that claimed that if selected as contractor, Westinghouse would use cheap Chinese technology and hire cheap Chinese labor for the work, instead of hiring Czech companies... (read more here).

 

Tykac's prosecution complicates things for Czech Coal

Business - CEZ's board of directors and supervisory board approved a new version of a draft agreement with the European Commission (EC). The agreement is expected to end the EC's anti-monopoly trial against the Czech semi state energy company.
