New Lower Chamber, Day 1. Blonde MPs, Prince with no ID
Fresh meat! Or, newbies are coming. This one is Jiří Šulc from the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), a right-wing outfit which came second in the poll. However, the ODS is in a much better position to form a government than the winning Social Democrats (ČSSD), and is generally considered the real winner of the election.
Other MP for the ODS, David Šeich. A great critic of the quality of police breathanalyzers. In Brno, one of these devices indicated that Šeich's blood alcohol content was 0.24. In this photo, a policemen is checking if Šeich is really Šeich.
"Sometimes, it is necessary to choose battles which are already lost," Richard Dolejš (right) uttered to David Ráth (left), both from the Social Democratic Party (ČSSD). The ČSSD hoped for a Social Democratic speaker of the Lower Chamber. However, eventually it was decided that the post would be occupied by Miroslava Němcová from the ODS.
One of the biggest surprises of the election. Prince Karel Schwarzenberg from the conservative TOP 09 which is expected to be the second biggest member of the ruling coalition. Mr Schwarzenberg can be often seen sleeping at various meetings and even televised talk-shows, however it is generally believed that this does not prevent him from paying attention to what is going on in his surroundings. His four-year term will give him a plenty of opportunities to take a good nap.
